Debagram Debal Raja Puratatwa o Lokosanskriti Sangha

It is with immense pride and profound gratitude that we inaugurate the official website of Debagram Debal Raja Puratatwa o Lokosanskriti Sangha—a step towards connecting the world with the rich and unexplored archaeological heritage of Debalgarh. This milestone marks not only our commitment to research, conservation, and awareness but also our dedication to preserving the cultural and historical legacy of Bengal.

For decades, the soil of Debalgarh has silently preserved the remnants of an ancient civilization. Through relentless efforts, thousands of artefacts have been recovered, each carrying a story of Bengal’s glorious past. Despite being a site of immense historical significance, no systematic excavation or conservation initiatives have been undertaken by government authorities. Recognizing this gap, we, the people of Debagram and surrounding areas, have come together to take up the responsibility of safeguarding our own heritage.

The Debalgarh Museum, established in 2017, has been at the heart of this mission, serving as a research hub and a mass learning platform for students, scholars, and heritage enthusiasts.
The launch of this website is a crucial step in our journey. It will serve as a digital gateway for researchers, academicians, and history lovers worldwide to explore the rich history of Debalgarh. We envision this platform as a space for knowledge sharing, research collaborations, and community engagement. Our objectives are clear—to bridge the gap between history and modern society, to foster awareness, and to instill a sense of pride and responsibility among the people for the conservation of their own heritage.

I take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the esteemed scholars, researchers, students, and heritage lovers who have supported our mission. Special thanks to the officials from the Archaeological Survey of India, the Department of Archaeology (Govt. of West Bengal), The Asiatic Society, University of Calcutta, Department of Archaeology, Visva Bharti, Santiniketan, department of Geography and other academic institutions who have shown keen interest in the potential of Debalgarh as an archaeological heritage site.

This is just the beginning. We believe that with the active participation of the community and the support of national and international scholars, Debalgarh can emerge as a major archaeo-tourist destination, enriching the regional history and archaeology of Bengal.

We invite you all to be a part of this journey—to explore, to learn, and to preserve. Let this website be a beacon for heritage awareness, historical research, and cultural revival.
Let us pledge to safeguard the legacy of Debalgarh for future generations.

Warm regards,

Dr. Biswajit Roy
